Natural creams for skin prone to eczema
All Lyonsleaf products are suitable for most people with problem skin (always do a patch test to be sure). However, the calendula rich products below are particularly recommended for skin prone to eczema.
Which natural calendula cream to use for skin prone to eczema?
Calendula Cream (orange label) This is our original product, it's been around the longest and has most customer reviews. It is fragranced with essential oils and is whipped to make it feel soft and quite luxurious. If you want something as a daily moisturiser - particularly for the face or for mild eczema this is probably for you. It's not suitable for under 3s because of the essential oil content.
Calendula and Marshmallow Balm (purple label) This has the same amount of calendula as the above product, but has additional marshmallow root extract. Marshmallow is a superb emollient so this is great for very dry eczema, and hard, rough or chapped skin. It's unfragranced so suitable for infants. The lack of fragrance also makes it suitable for very sensitive types who want to avoid essential oils. Its fine for the face, but you may not enjoy using it as much as the Calendula Cream as this is more of an ointment / balm.
Zinc and Calendula Cream (yellow label) This product has the same amount of calendula as the other two and is unfragranced so is suitable for infants and sensitive types. Zinc is very water repellent so it can be used to protect fragile skin when bathing or washing up (great if your skin itches like mad when you get in the bath!). There is a lot of evidence to show that zinc oxide is helpful in the management of eczema, but we do hear from some customers that it can be a bit drying (this may be due to using too much). Zinc is cooling (it's what they put in calamine lotion) so it may be most helpful for burning itchy eczema. It is a white ointment - again not a pamper product, but certainly fine for facial use.
It may be hard to decide which product(s) are suitable for you, so we do sell samples of all three so you can try them before purchasing a full sized jar.
