One of the main causes of skin ageing is excessive free radical damage caused by exposure to the sun and pollutants. Tropical oils have evolved to be sun-stable by way of a myriad of free radical busting antioxidants. This product is 96% organic tropical oils.

Dry skin also causes premature ageing which is completely preventable. Dry skin is caused by a failure of the skins natural outer barrier (the stratum corneum) to prevent excessive moisture escaping. The key to moisturising is to maintain good skin barrier with quality emollients, sealing moisture in. The epidermis draws moisture from the dermis below and from the air around it, so water in your moisturiser is only diluting the vital emollients.

The fatty acids that make up the natural plant oils in this body butter are the very same ones the skin uses to make its own emollient oils. Cheap mineral oils, derived from petrochemicals, form an occlusive seal, whereas plant oils are readily accepted by your skin and will be used to protect and maintain the stratum corneum without upsetting the ability to regulate moisture and temperature.

Essential oils for healthy skin

The blend of essential oils in this product not only smells divine but balances sebum production helping skin function correctly. We also include our home grown soothing organic calendula extract.

This product is suitable for all skin types, but be aware that coconut oil can make some people spotty, so we suggest that, for those people it may not be suitable for areas prone to acne or blemishes. We recommend that you research the ingredients of any products to establish whether they may have a detrimental effect on your skin.  Lyonsleaf sell samples of most products. Always do a patch test.

Essential oils contain: benzyl benzoate, citral, geraniol, benzyl cinnamate, limonene, linolool.

    We buy organic babassu oil when available, otherwise, it is obtained from wild harvest babassu nuts which naturally fall in the rainforest.
    PLEASE NOTE: We have removed almond oil from this product, but other stockists may still hold stock containing almond oil - please check the ingredients on the box when buying elsewhere, should you have an allergy.
    Directions & Guidance

    Apply to skin as required. Made from undiluted high-performing ingredients, you need use only very sparingly.

    For best results apply after a bath or shower

    Not suitable for infants under 36 months.

    Not suitable for those with an allergy to the daisy or aster family, (known as a Sesquiterpene Lactone allergy).

    Not recommended for facial use or for acne prone skin due to high coconut content

    As with all skin care products test a small area of skin and observe for 24hrs to be sure there is no reaction before applying generally. Should irritation occurs discontinue use.
    Storage & Shipping

    Store all Lyonsleaf products in a cool dark place to preserve beneficial compounds and avoid solid products melting.

    Stored properly and unopened all products will keep indefinitely. Use within 12 months of opening.

    If a solid product does melt, reset it in a refrigerator. Products containing shea butter should be warmed to a liquid state and then reset quickly in a refrigerator to avoid the shea butter forming grainy lumps as it hardens.

      Although I've used the range of Lyonsleaf creams, oils, soaps, muslin cloths, indeed the whole shop, I always come back to the body butter. For me it can be used all over, including face and around eyes, as well as heels and legs. The body butter represents the best value if you're on a budget too. The generous Lyonsleaf discount codes make regular shopping here a joy. I'm so thankful to have the body butter in my bathroom as an every day luxury.

      I bought the body butter after trying and loving the Beauty Balm and Facial Oil and it hasn't disappointed. I wanted to ditch all the plastic bottles in my bathroom, so for the last couple of months have been dry body brushing and then using this body butter. My very fair, dry skin is the softest it's ever been. It's easy to use, fast to absorb and I love the smell. Really happy, thank you.

      I can't recommend this product highly enough! I never write reviews for products but I have been so impressed with this that I had to. The smell is amazing and my skin feels fantastic. Having no chemicals, using organic ingredients and the lack of plastic packaging are all a bonus.

      This is a wonderfully luxurious body butter. I melt a little in my hands before application, as I find it spreads a lot easier and goes a lot further. I usually have very dry, itchy skin, especially on my lower legs which can often be flaky. Since using this butter, the flakiness has completely disappeared and I'm left with beautifully soft skin all over, which lasts! Being 95% organic and 100% natural, I know I'm applying only the very purest ingredients, as nature intended.

      I apply the butter after each shower, and the pot has lasted me 4 months. I've just ordered my next one.

      How Quickly do you despatch?

      We despatch orders Monday to Friday and we always dispatch the same working day (if ordered before 12 noon) or the following working day.

      Will my skin react to Lyonsleaf Products

      Our products are all 100% natural and free from all artificial chemicals. Because they are water free we can even avoid antimicrobial preservatives and emulsifiers. For this reason it is very unusual for anyone to react to our products at all. However some people are sensitive to essential oils, so if you are super-sensitive please choose unfragranced product options. Even less common, it is possible to be allergic to calendula and other herbs, so it is always important to do a patch test. In the unlikely event that you do have an adverse reaction, you can return your product for a full refund. We also sell samples of most products so you can try before you invest in a big pot.

      Why is the pot so small?

      Lyonsleaf products are water free and contain only the finest, plant oils, butters natural waxes and mineral ingredients. Most high Street products are up to 80% water, which means you need to apply them much more liberally and frequently. You will find you only need to use Lyonsleaf products very sparingly to achive good hydration that lasts all day. Products that are rich in soothing herbs can be used more frequently to achieve the best calming effect, but they still only need to be used sparingly. So these little pots go a long way, using less packaging and less transportation resources.

      Are Lyonsleaf products vegan?

      Much of the Lyonsleaf range is vegan, but we do use organic beeswax in some products. When it came to choosing a suitable wax, we decided it would be better for the environment to choose a farming method that promotes pollinators rather than a vegetable mono-crop that causes deforestation and loss of habitat. We only use organic beeswax as organic farming standards require farmers to have high welfare standards for Bees.
